Star of David
The Star of David, an ancient sign, as interpreted by sixteen contemporary Israeli and German artists. The exhibition showcased seven German works along with nine contemporary Israeli works by famed artists including Micha Bar-Am, Alex Levac, Yossi Lemel, and David Tartakover . Through the presentation of Israeli and German works side by side, the exhibition dealt with historic and current interpretations of the symbol.
The exhibition was based on the “David’s Star” exhibition which was held in Germany, in May 1995. Curator for the exhibition was Rudolf Grass and it was put on by the Politischer Club Colonia, a local institution which deals with the connection between politics and art. The exhibition marked 30 years since diplomatic relations between Israel and Germany were established and included works centering on the Star of David by twelve leading German artists.
