Do you love kubbeh? Lahmajun? Say thank you to Urfa - a city in southeastern Turkey, home of an ancient Jewish community.

At the end of the 19th century, members of the community moved to Israel. Many of them settled in Jerusalem and opened food stands which became famous restaurants: Rachmo, Pinati, Basher - are those names familiar? Join us this Hebrew speaking tour about the stories, the places and the people of the community that opened up Jerusalem’s taste buds.

Learn about the life of the Jews in Urfa and about their aliya to Jerusalem from the end of the 19th century. Visit the places where they settled, and learn about their lifestyle in Jerusalem, and the customs and personalities which became an integral part of the Jerusalem and Machane Yehuda market landscape.
